During our Surigao road trip, we decided to spent the night at the famous island in Surigao - Rock Island Resort. Located in Barangay Cambatong, Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur.
It was recommended by our friend who actually hasn’t been to the place, but just heard good reviews about it and so we just gave it a try. And since not any single of us has been to the place, we were almost lost. Yes! We were are having a hard time locating the exact road since it was night already when we decide to travel going to the island resort. Good thing we encountered a motorcycle which he leads us to the place going to the island. They guided us going to the parking area of the island — such a beautiful soul of them. Truly an angel in disguise.
As soon as we arrived at the parking area, there was this Kuya who helped parked our service car in the right place and who told us what to do. Another angel sent from heaven.
Since the resort is an island, we need to ride a pumpboat first, which is Php50 per head. It takes about 10 minutes going to the island. It was dark and there is lightning flashed across the sky as we go on with our boat ride. It was a bit scary though.

As we reach the island, there was this dog who catches our attention with his welcoming skills to the guests. He was very happy to see the pumpboat approaching. He keeps on wiggling his body as he sees us. And, he even join us going to our room. He is so cute.
Since we are a group of friends, we have a slightly big room which is composed of three double deck beds. The room is made with amakan and cement flooring with two small restrooms and one cabinet for your bags.
Our room rate is at Php4,600 per night which is good for eight persons. It is an air-conditioned room with basic amenities. It also includes the entrance fee, free breakfast with coffee, free parking at Barangay Cambatong, and use of picnic cottage.
The resort is literally a rock island since it is a small island with a resort on top of it. The resort has a long pathway above the sea water from the resort itself, going to the diving area. They have a nice picnic cottage which you can use for free if you check in overnight or for more days. These picnic cottages are well built above the sea water, where you can go down and take a dip and swim into the water. I suggest that it is better to do your swimming early in the morning so you can catch the beautiful sunrise just right in front of the cottages.
Of course, resorts in the Philippines wouldn’t be complete without the presence of “karaoke” to chill your night. Have drinks or chips which you can buy just beside the karaoke station. They also have a restaurant where you can order or even dine.
